Job summary

SMI Properties in Harrisburg, NC is seeking a Part-Time Fleet Technician to maintain and prepare a large rental golf cart fleet for motorsports venues and events nationwide. This hands-on role suits someone who enjoys mechanical work, cares about quality workmanship, and wants a flexible schedule.

You will diagnose, service and repair carts, load/unload from trailers, and operate shop equipment with occasional evening and weekend hours. Safe, reliable equipment is the goal.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age and valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Mechanical aptitude; experience repairing small engines or similar equipment preferred.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Basic computer/tablet skills for web-based applications.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team; reliable and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, repairs and routine service on golf cart fleet.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe service shop environment.
• Safely load, secure and unload golf carts from trailers.
• Safely operate shop equipment including golf carts, pressure washers and generators.
• Follow safety procedures, manufacturer guidelines and service standards.
• Support department operations and local rental activities as needed.

JOB DUTIES:

• Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, repairs, and routine service on golf cart fleet.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Mechanical aptitude; experience repairing small engines, powersports equipment, golf carts, automotive, or similar equipment preferred.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Basic skills for utilizing computers, tablets, and web-based applications.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and maneuver equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, grease, and varying temperatures.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely.
