Job summary

UPS is seeking an Automotive Technician to join our fleet maintenance team. You will service a diverse range of vehicles including delivery vans and heavy-duty tractors, handling diesel, gasoline and alternative powertrains.

The role emphasizes diagnosing and maintaining brakes, electrical and engine-control systems. We offer a 2nd shift schedule (with some weekends depending on location), competitive wages, benefits, paid vacation, and provided uniforms.

Qualifications

  • Must have current automotive mechanical experience.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and PCs.
  • Possesses a full complement of personal hand tools.
  • Requires CDL Class B with airbrake endorsement or CDL Class A.
  • Willing to work 2nd/3rd shift or varying shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Meets D.O.T requirements and CDL qualifications.
  • Bends, stoops, climbs stairs, stands and moves throughout the shift.
  • Operates standard/manual transmission and power tools.
  • Maintains PITO certification requirements.
  • Works in variable temperatures, humidity, dust, and noise.

UPS is currently seeking a reliable Automotive Technician to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. Automotive Technicians maintain a diverse range of equipment including delivery vehicles, heavy duty on road tractors and trailers from various manufacturers. Powered vehicle propulsion includes diesel, gasoline and alternative technology power plants (including compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid and electrical in some locations).Automotive Techniciansmust be skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining various systems including hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical and engine control.

Automotive Technicians must be willing to work a 2ndshift schedule Monday through Friday as well as some weekends, depending on the location’s need.UPS offers attractive wages, benefits and paid vacations. Uniforms are also provided.Automotive Techniciansmust possess the required hand tools required to perform the applicable job assignment.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Meets D.O.T requirements and CDL qualifications required by job assignment
  • Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout duration of workday
  • Sits infrequently, as required,throughout duration of workday
  • Exercises simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks
  • Operates standard and manual transmission
  • Operates power and pneumatic tools
  • Meets all requirements to be Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certified
Knowledge and Skills
  • Current documented automotive mechanical experience
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer
  • Possesses full complement of personal hand tools
  • Must have a CLD Class B with airbrake endorsement or a CDL Class A
  • Worksfull time shifts: 2nd shift or 3rd shift
  • Dependable with ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete scheduled workday on a consistent basis
  • Available to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs
  • Wears personal protective equipment as required
  • Works in an environment with variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions), exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, and noise, outside inclement weather, etc.
  • Works cooperatively in a diverse work environment
  • Communicates effectivelythrough sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The starting pay for this position is $38.34 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.

Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision after waiting and or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program
