Job summary

Ameren Illinois in Decatur, IL is seeking an Automotive Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain transportation equipment including passenger cars, trucks, aerial units and power operated equipment. You will diagnose and repair systems across engine, drive train, body, chassis, electrical, hydraulic and welding tasks.

The role includes safety-sensitive DOT duties; shift is 2nd with hours 3:00pm-11:00pm Mon-Thu and 11:00am-7:00pm Fri; hourly pay around $48.57, rising to $50.03 with the union

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Automotive maintenance program completed or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in an automotive maintenance facility as a repair technician.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with Airbrake endorsements.
• Must pass the CAST aptitude test and written automotive mechanic exam.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair engine, drive train, body, chassis, electrical, hydraulic and special equipment systems.
• Perform welding and related repair tasks on transportation equipment.
• Support DOT safety-sensitive functions and comply with safety standards.

Location: Decatur, IL

Hourly Rate: $48.57; As of July 1 the union negotiated wage rate will increase to $50.03.

2nd Shift: 3:00pm-11:00pm Monday-Thursday; 11:00am-7:0pm Friday

Performs a variety of activities relating to the repair and maintenance of transportation equipment, including passenger cars, trucks, aerial units and power operated equipment. Duties include diagnosis and repair of engine, drive train, body, chassis, electrical, hydraulic and special equipment systems, and welding.

This position includes performance of DOT-covered safety sensitive functions.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from high school or successful completion of a high school equivalency examination.
• Successful completion of an approved educational program in Automotive Maintenance, or its equivalent.
• Satisfactorily performed for two years in an automotive maintenance facility in a repair technician classification, or its equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL License with Airbrake endorsements.
• Must pass the Construction Skilled Trades (CAST) aptitude test, written automotive mechanic exam.

Hourly Pay:

Grade Step BC 164 Step 1 of 1 (Top Step) - 51.78 USD
