Job summary

Dart Container in Kentucky is seeking a Driver Operations Supervisor to supervise driver and local fleet activities, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and service in line with corporate KPIs.

You will provide leadership, train staff, and coordinate across departments to meet regulatory requirements and company standards, with an emphasis on safety culture and continuous improvement within a fast-paced logistics environment.

Qualifications

  • 21 years of age minimum.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Supervisory experience and/or demonstrated strong leadership and management skills.
  • Valid Class A CDL and favorable driving record upon hiring and ability to maintain throughout duration of employment.
  • Commercial Motor Vehicle driving experience.
  • Display strong interpersonal skills and is accessible and approachable.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes.
  • Ability to utilize and train employees on technology, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities.
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and promote practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards.
  • Take ownership and demonstrate leadership necessary to achieve goals specific to Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency, and Employee Development.
  • Lead by example to promote and encourage employees to strongly commit to safety.
  • Establish an environment that encourages employee engagement, participation and teamwork within and between all departments.
  • Provide continuous leadership and support to drivers to meet or exceed KPIs.
  • Proactively seek and identify problems that need to be resolved and quantify the anticipated benefits of problem resolution.
  • Facilitate problem solving by leveraging/modeling continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate root causes.
  • Supervise, train and promote practices and processes intended to safely transport products and comply with appropriate laws and regulations, while meeting the company’s quality and safety standards to serve the needs of our customers.
  • Provide classroom instruction and on-road training to ensure driver performance meets regulatory compliance, policies, procedures, and safety culture.
  • Administer, monitor, and/or distribute training material to ensure staff is meeting or exceeding training and safety standards.
  • Monitor, review and maintain Hours of Service regulations.
  • Facilitate driver safety meetings per Corporate guidelines.
  • Understand, support, and follow management expectations in alignment with company value.

Supervise all facets of driver and local fleet operations per policies and procedures set by the corporate office and regulatory requirements with a focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, efficiency, and service. This may span multiple shifts.

Core Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • 21 years of age minimum
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Supervisory experience and/or demonstrated strong leadership and management skills
  • Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver License) and favorable driving record upon hiring and ability to maintain throughout duration of employment
  • Commercial Motor Vehicle driving experience

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in logistics, supply chain, or related field of study.
