Job summary

Villani Landshapers, Inc. is seeking a shop mechanic to ensure safe and efficient operation of vehicles and equipment. You will diagnose, repair, service and maintain gas and diesel systems, perform alignments, and document records.

Some welding and fabrication experience is a plus and there may be on-call work during winter snow events. The role typically operates as a first shift position with winter on-call requirements and requires lifting up to 100 lbs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Determines vehicle or equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
• Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
• Performs routine fleet maintenance including changing oil, checking batteries, lubricating equipment and parts, and adjusting and aligning wheels.
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.

Description

Under the direction of the Shop Manager, the shop mechanic ensures the safe and efficient operation of a variety of vehicles as well as small and large equipment. The mechanic helps maintain both gas and diesel equipment by completing repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; and keeping accurate records. An ideal candidate would also have some experience with welding and fabricating. This is generally a first shift position, with off-hours work expected during winter snow events.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to be on call for all shifts during winter snow season
• Ability to carry 50 lbs. and occasionally loads up to 100 lbs.
• Ability to maintain shop organization at all times

• Engine diagnosis & troubleshooting skills both gas and diesel, heavy and light equipment
• Electrical systems on trucks, equipment and trailers
• Small trailer repair experience
• Change and balance equipment tires
• Small engine repair experience
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
