Job summary

AAA Club Alliance is hiring a Fleet Safety Manager to guide and promote a safety culture across all fleet locations in the territory. On-site role based in Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Woodlawn, MD, or Columbus, OH with travel to fleet sites as needed.

The role emphasizes managing the Traffic Safety Program and Driver Qualification File Compliance, ensuring DOT/ OSHA compliance, and developing safety policies to protect associates, members and the public.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, business administration or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in a safety-related role.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local safety laws and regulations.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, CSP or OHST, or experience with Samsara, are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Safety Coordinators to execute the Traffic Safety Program and Driver Qualification File Compliance.
  • Ensure Safety Coordinators have the necessary knowledge, skills and resources; coach and discipline as needed.
  • Collaborate with Fleet Management, Learning & Development, Risk Management, HR, other clubs and Legal to develop and execute the Club Fleet Safety Strategy.
  • Provide communications across Fleet locations and manage content on the Fleet intranet page.
  • Support and guide Club Fleet business line management.
  • Oversee fleet safety compliance, including roadside safety, PPE use, vehicle security in transit, recovery techniques and defensive driving.
  • Lead annual planning and project teams for business line initiatives.
  • Produce data analyses and ongoing reports (monthly/quarterly); identify trends and propose responses.

Job description

AAA Club Alliance is now hiring a Fleet Safety Manager to help guide and promote the safety culture of all fleet locations across our territory. This on-site role will be based out of one of our Fleet Offices in either Philadelphia, PA, Cincinnati, OH, Woodlawn, MD, or Columbus, OH.

The Fleet Safety Manager guides the Fleet to a culture of safety by managing the Traffic Safety Program and Driver Qualification File Compliance. The safety manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of all Fleet driver and vehicle operations. This role oversees the development, implementation and enforcement of safety policies designed to protect Associates, members and the public while maintaining compliance with DOT, OSHA and various state regulations.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8AM to 4:30PM (with occasional weekends)
This is an on-site position that will be based out of one of the below AAA Club Alliance Fleet Office locations. This position will travel as needed to fleet location throughout territory.

The primary duties of the role are to
  • Manage Safety Coordinators to execute the Traffic Safety Program and Driver Qualification File Compliance.
  • Ensures that the Safety Coordinators are prepared with the knowledge, skills and abilities to execute their responsibilities. Ensures team has the resources they need; assign responsibilities; monitors performance; and coaches as needed Provides coaching and disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Collaborates with Fleet Management, Learning & Development, Risk Management, Human Resources, other clubs and Legal to develop and execute the Club Fleet Safety Strategy.
  • Provides communications across Fleet locations and manages content on the Club Fleet intranet page.
  • Provides support and guidance to Club Fleet business line management.
  • Serves as a resource and liaison with corporate support departments.
  • Oversee fleet safety compliance, including roadside safety, use of PPE, vehicle security while in transit, recovery techniques and defensive driving.
  • Participates in annual planning and leads project teams for business line initiatives.
  • Provides various data analysis for business line. Develops, monitors and interprets on-going reports on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Identifies trends and patterns in data and provides possible responses to these dynamics. Develop action plans to respond to any adverse trends.
  • Reviews operating practices and procedures for process improvement opportunities in the areas of workflow, reporting, and safety.
  • Produces presentations and reports on key business imperatives throughout the business line.
  • Stay current with OSHA, DOT, EPA, FMCSA and other relevant regulations and industry best practices relevant to towing operations.
  • Performs evaluation of safety policies, methods, and programs.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability across fleet operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in management, Business Administration or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • 4+ years of experience in a safety-related role.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local safety laws and regulations.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technologist), or experience with Samsara are highly desirable.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong project management, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of internal management in numerous functions.
  • Knowledge of business line processes and procedures.
  • Excellent business writing and communication skills, enabling effective and professional interaction with all levels of Associates.
  • Proficient PC and technology skills include Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; report writing, Samsara and Internet/Intranet.
  • Ability to treat data confidentially.
  • Skilled as Content Manager of Automotive Solutions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, develop and explain operational data.
  • Knowledge and application of business management, strategic planning, and project management principles and practice.
