American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) is seeking a Northern Reliability Leader to oversee vessel engineering and maintenance across the northern fleet in Paducah, KY. You will shape reliability strategies and mentor engineers.

This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on problem solving, driving uptime, cost efficiency, and compliance with Coast Guard and Subchapter M standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in vessel maintenance, marine engineering, fleet maintenance, reliability engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility in maintenance, engineering, reliability, or operations.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Coast Guard regulations, Subchapter M, OPA 90, and safe handling of hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities, technical oversight, and reliability strategy for vessel engineering and maintenance.
• Develop and execute reliability, maintenance, and asset management initiatives to improve availability and fleet performance.
• Coach and develop vessel engineers and technical staff, including assignments, troubleshooting, and succession planning.
• Establish and maintain maintenance standards, preventive maintenance, inspection processes, and testing procedures to minimize downtime.
• Partner with Operations and Logistics to optimize repair schedules and minimize disruptions.
• Oversee vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality repairs and project execution.
• Monitor fleet performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and performance reports for maintenance expenditures.
• Investigate recurring mechanical challenges and implement solutions.
• Ensure vessels meet regulatory requirements including Coast Guard, Subchapter M, environmental, and safety standards.
