• Experience in transportation and fleet management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations of the truck fleet to assure high service levels at minimum expense.
• Maintain accurate files on vehicle use, condition, and maintenance.
• Ensure tractors and trailers are effectively utilized by developing delivery schedules.
• Implement an inspection program to safeguard equipment and a maintenance program.
• Recommend specifications for new equipment.
• Provide a level of delivery service that meets customer expectations.
• Direct the operations of the clerical staff and drivers.
• Develop and maintain a productive work team through hiring and training.
• Apply sound communication techniques, counsel and discipline subordinates.
• Implement performance evaluation systems for promotions and terminations.
• Implement a driver safety program.
• Process bills of lading correctly.
• Establish trip reporting procedures and process reports.
• Assure timely creation and filing of Department of Transportation reports.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
