Job summary

SWTO, LLC, a 7-Eleven subsidiary, seeks a CDL A Fleet Mechanic in Tampa, FL to diagnose, repair and maintain a large fleet of Class 8 vehicles and petroleum tank trailers. You will perform preventive maintenance, daily inspections, and coordinate with contractors as needed to ensure safe, compliant operation.

Ideal candidates hold hazmat and tanker endorsements, understand FMCSA/EPA/OSHA regulations, and can lift heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Requires CDL A with hazardous materials and tanker endorsement.
• Knowledge of FMCSA, EPA and OSHA regulations.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools and read maintenance manuals.
• Capable of lifting equipment weighing over 125 pounds.
• Professional conduct and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses, repairs and maintains Class 8 vehicles, petroleum tank trailers, and related equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance and vehicle inspections.
• Performs daily inspections and documents findings.
• Tests equipment and verifies repairs.
• Responds to breakdowns and coordinates with external contractors as needed.
• Maintains safety and OSHA compliance; keeps work area clean.
• Keeps up with EPA requirements and trainings.

*SWTO, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary and private fuel delivery fleet of 7-Eleven & SEI Fuels. *We compliment 7-Eleven’s existing carrier portfolio with a fleet of 200+ power units. Our 450+ drivers will deliver ~1.8 billion gallons of gas, diesel and ethanol, mainly to retail convenience stores and commercial fueling centers.*Essential Functions of a CDL A Fleet Mechanic at SWTO:* Provides mechanical and technical support for the Company transportation fleet; diagnoses, repairs and maintains Class 8 vehicles, petroleum tank trailers, medium duty specialty vehicles and light duty automotive vehicles; utilizes outside contractors to complete repairs as needed*Responsibilities:** Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components necessary for safe, proper function of assigned equipment, including, but not limited to, electrical, brakes, chassis, power train, suspension, engine and other specialty items such as PTO’s and petroleum tank truck items* Completes preventive maintenance and vehicle inspections in accordance with Company fleet practices* Performs daily inspections of fleet vehicles; completes preventative maintenance and repairs any problems or defects identified during preventative maintenance inspections* Tests necessary equipment for defect diagnosis and ensures proper repairs have been completed* Responds to calls when a driver breaks down; determines if an outside contractor is required and ensures that repairs are made efficiently and in a cost effective manner* Reviews equipment repair history and documents similar repairs; identifies trends and provides tags/parts of repairs for warranty assistance* Maintains working knowledge of current technologies and equipment being utilized in the transportation fleet. Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins by attending training seminars and courses* Maintains a clean, safe work environment in compliance with Company guidelines and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards* Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and Company guidelines by completing required trainings, as well as obtaining required certifications* Performs work in accordance to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements* Performs repairs to building and facility as needed* Provides timely communication of critical events that need to be considered and/or addressed by Management* Works on outside equipment, in a safe manner, regardless of weather conditions, as needed* Completes other duties, including special projects, as assigned by Management*Requirements:** Requires CDL A with hazardous materials and tanker endorsement* Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), EPA and OSHA* Demonstrated expertise with Word, Excel, and other MS Office suite applications* Ability to conduct and complete Company business in a professional and ethical manner* Ability to lift equipment weighing in excess of 125 pounds* Ability to operate hand and power tools and special equipment to complete work assignments* Good understanding of intra-department functions and operations* Ability to perform repeated bending, standing and reachingThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by the individuals assigned to this job.
