Job summary

Salem-Keizer School District is seeking a Mechanic Technician to diagnose and repair vehicular equipment for school transportation and district vehicles. This is an advanced level position in the Mechanic series, requiring mastery of automotive, medium and heavy-duty repairs and proficient use of tools, shop and welding equipment.

You will perform preventative maintenance, transmission work, emissions repairs, and related tasks, often while delivering strong customer service.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of advanced repair methods for automotive, medium duty and heavy-duty vehicles.
• Must provide your own hand tools and have a valid Class B Oregon driver's license with endorsements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the Oregon Department of Education bus inspection certification, Master ASE rating, and EPA 609 certification.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair defects in vehicles and other equipment while maintaining exceptional customer service.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services on school transportation and district vehicles.
• Transmission diagnosis and repair and emissions system repairs.
• Use tools, shop equipment, and welding equipment as required.
