Job summary

SRM Concrete is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to keep our mixer trucks and heavy equipment safely on the road. This hands-on role focuses on diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and preventive maintenance with on-the-job training available for newcomers.

You'll join a safety‑minded team, record maintenance work accurately, and collaborate with operations to minimize downtime while meeting delivery schedules. CDL is preferred; high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Experience with diagnostic tools for heavy equipment.
• Ability to read maintenance manuals and repair procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment, including oil changes, lubrications, and filter replacements.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in mixer trucks, loaders, dump trucks, tankers, and other heavy equipment.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
• Rebuild, replace, or repair major components such as engine heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions.
• Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime.
• Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures in the workshop and on job sites.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work using company systems.
• Stay updated on the latest diesel engine technology and repair techniques through ongoing learning.

• Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply—we offer on-the-job training for those new to diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment technician is a plus.
• Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems is preferred.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment; willingness to learn new technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety standards and protocols.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical certification in diesel engine repair is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL is preferred.
• Willingness to complete SRM’s pre-employment screenings.
