Job summary

Young Supply Company, a leading HVACR and plumbing distributor in the Midwest, seeks a Fleet Mechanic Assistant in Clinton Township, MI. This full-time entry-level role supports our fleet mechanics in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles and equipment.

You will work with light to heavy-duty vehicles, trailers, forklifts, and related components, learning maintenance procedures and safety practices in a collaborative shop setting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience with vehicles, engines, equipment, machinery or systems.
• Basic familiarity with hand and power tools.
• Willingness to learn and follow repair instructions.
• Dependable attendance and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting and repairs on fleet vehicles, trucks, trailers, forklifts and equipment.
• Perform oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks, batteries, lights, tires and other routine maintenance.
• Assist with removal, installation and replacement of vehicle and equipment components.
• Retrieve and stage tools, parts and supplies needed for repairs.
• Maintain parts, tool and equipment inventories and help track work orders.
• Move vehicles and equipment into and out of the shop and transport vehicles as needed.
• Clean parts, tools, equipment and work areas and maintain an organized, safe shop.
• Learn proper maintenance procedures, use of shop equipment and basic diagnostic/troubleshooting techniques.
