Job Title: Fleet Mechanic
Job description
Denver Commercial Property Services provides commercial property services to 1,000 plus clients across Colorado. DCPS is undergoing significant growth and is hiring talent to grow along with us. DCPS is looking for skilled Fleet Mechanics to join our team! If you have experience with [small engines, heavy equipment, trucks, landscaping machinery, etc.], we want to hear from you.
JOB PURPOSE: The Fleet Mechanic diagnoses and repairs cars or light trucks. Other duties of the Fleet Mechanic include inspecting vehicles and equipment, performing routine service and keeping records of work done. Day-to-day duties expected of Fleet Mechanics include the analysis of vehicles and/or equipment to determine what is wrong in unique circumstances, the use of testing equipment following repairs to ensure that vehicles/equipment are safe to drive and to use.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all mechanical repairs needed to all types of vehicles/equipment:? Maintain, repair, inspect, and/or replace brakes, steering mechanisms, springs, air bags, lights, air conditioners, water, fuel, oil, air filters, coolant and chemicals, transmissions, tire air pressure, tire tread, tires, chassis, drive lines, u-joints, air tanks, batteries, air lines, power cords, wipers, mirrors, drive train components, or other equipment as necessary
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers when applicable
- Identify root cause of failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
- Interact with drivers to properly determine the nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Inspection of trucks and trailers to verify that there are no DOT infractions and repairs as required. ?
- Organize and prioritize repairs and maintenance as needed to efficiently manage and coordinate assigned work volumes and unexpected or emergency repairs.
- Communicating professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors
- Work in accordance with all federal, state, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT)
- Complete work orders and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining high quality standards in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP's)
- Keep management informed of safety, operator, and equipment observations and concerns
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes, utilizing continuous improvement mindset
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area which may include wearing of all required personal protective equipment in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: An individual must be proficient in each of the competencies listed below to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position:
- Ability to operate basic shop power equipment, basic hand tools, vehicles, skid steer loader and trailers.
- Proficiency with shop tools, equipment, and diagnostic equipment.
- Good knowledge of the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of heavy and light duty gasoline and diesel engines and related mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic component systems.
- Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service
- High Energy Level
- Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills required
- Ability to work in a high performance, fast-paced team environment
- An ability to know your location in relation to the environment or to know where other objects are in relation to you and the vehicle/equipment you are working on.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Diagnose and repair Small Engine, 2 cycle Equipment and Snow Removal Equipment.
- Welding/Metal fabrication
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES & WORK ENVIRONMENT: The following physical activities are necessary to perform one or more essential functions of this position.
- Moderate exposure to dust, wide temperature range, noise, vibrations, fumes, harsh chemicals, odors, pollens and grasses, grease, machinery and moving parts, sitting and driving for long periods, bending, stooping, on knees, both indoors and outdoors, and inclement weather, with occasional exposure to hazardous work conditions.
- Must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction, and communicate verbally and in written form, and must be able to be understood. Some heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds, and other physical exertion required.
- Ability to walk/stand on concrete for prolonged periods of times
- Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks; manual dexterity
- Vision abilities required include close, distance and depth perception
- Must be able to work long hours and overtime when required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license with minimum classification of a (Class R – noncommercial driver’s license) or equivalent if out of state and license MUST be maintained throughout employment. A motor vehicle report must be presented at time of application.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: High school diploma or
GED. Two years driving experience with a valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by Denver Commercial Property Services Inc. Insurance carrier.
Pay:
$27.00-$38.00 Hourly
