Job summary

Bailey’s Moving & Storage seeks a proactive Fleet Mechanic to maintain our diverse fleet, including tractors, trailers, straight trucks, and forklifts. You will work both indoors and outdoors, setting your own priorities and tackling a mix of routine and unexpected tasks.

You will diagnose and resolve issues, perform DOT inspections, and conduct onsite and occasional mobile repairs. The role offers autonomy, collaboration with operations leadership, and a path for skill growth in Colorado.

Qualifications

• Proven diesel and general vehicle maintenance experience.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and inspections.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Preferred: possession of your own tools.

Responsibilities

• Autonomous workflow management: prioritize and select the most critical repairs.
• Perform diverse mechanical repairs including diagnostics, wiring, valves and seals.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections to keep fleet reliable.
• Assist drivers with pre-trip and startup checks to ensure safe operation.
• Maintain thorough service histories using maintenance software.

Role Summary:

As our Fleet Mechanic, you will be trusted with the autonomy to diagnose and resolve issues across our diverse fleet. You’ll manage your daily tasks based on urgency and complexity, from conducting DOT inspections to performing both onsite and occasional mobile repairs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a self-directed environment and enjoys the satisfaction of problem-solving and preventative maintenance and enjoys working both indoors and outdoors. Your insight and expertise will be vital as you collaborate daily with our operations leadership to keep our fleet safe and ready to serve our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Autonomous Workflow Management: Organize and prioritize work tickets as you see fit, ensuring the most critical issues are addressed promptly.
• Diverse Mechanical Repairs: Perform a broad spectrum of mechanical repairs including but not limited to diagnostics, wiring issues, valve and seal replacements and more.
• Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to prevent breakdowns and ensure fleet reliability.
• Operational Support: Assist drivers with pre-trip inspections (when needed) and address start-up issues, ensuring all vehicles are ready for safe operation.
• Maintenance Documentation: Utilize our maintenance software (E-Maint) to meticulously track all maintenance activities and vehicle service histories.
