Job summary

zTrip is hiring a Fleet Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles, ensuring safety and reliability for daily operations. You’ll perform preventative maintenance, diagnose issues, and use modern repair tools to keep vehicles road-ready.

The role emphasizes thorough inspections, accuracy in maintenance records, and collaboration with fleet leadership to optimize uptime and fleet availability.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Fleet Mechanic or automotive technician.
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and diagnostics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot drivability concerns and perform preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and performance issues across the fleet.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative service.
  • Repair brakes, suspension, steering, tires, batteries, and electrical systems.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify issues quickly and accurately.
  • Complete repairs safely and inspect pre-/post-service readiness.
  • Document repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities accurately.

Fleet Mechanic

We're seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and ready for service. What You’ll Do as a Fleet Mechanic:
Vehicle Diagnostics & Repairs
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and performance-related issues across the fleet.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative service to maximize vehicle longevity.
  • Repair and replace brakes, suspension systems, steering components, tires, batteries, electrical systems, and other critical vehicle components.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment and modern repair technology to identify issues quickly and accurately.
  • Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship.
  • Conduct pre-service and post-repair inspections to ensure vehicle readiness.
Preventative Maintenance
  • Execute scheduled maintenance programs designed to reduce breakdowns and extend vehicle life.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and identify potential issues before they become major repairs.
  • Recommend repair strategies and maintenance improvements that increase fleet reliability and reduce operating costs.
  • Help minimize vehicle downtime through proactive maintenance planning and timely repairs.
Fleet Support & Operations
  • Work closely with fleet leadership and operations teams to prioritize repairs and maintain vehicle availability.
  • Assist in keeping fleet maintenance schedules current and organized.
  • Document completed repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities accurately.
  • Support company goals by ensuring vehicles remain dependable and available for daily operations.
  • Identify recurring maintenance concerns and provide recommendations for long-term solutions.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety guidelines, maintenance procedures, and shop policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Safely operate lifts, diagnostic equipment, power tools, and shop machinery.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet company, manufacturer, and regulatory safety standards.
  • Assist with compliance inspections, recordkeeping, and maintenance documentation requirements.
What We’re Looking for as a Fleet Mechanic:
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Fleet Mechanic, Automotive Technician, Diesel Technician, Maintenance Technician, or similar mechanical role.
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repair procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns.
  • Experience working on fleet vehicles, taxis, commercial vehicles, vans, light-duty trucks, or passenger vehicles preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality repairs.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-focused environment.
  • Dependable, motivated, and committed to workplace safety.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Basic computer skills for work orders, maintenance records, and repair tracking.
