Socket.dev in the United States is looking for a Fleet Manager to oversee the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment within the assigned area, ensuring safety, reliability, and cost-conscious operations.

You will manage maintenance, staffing, and budgets, coach personnel, and coordinate with shops and drivers to meet performance targets while upholding regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (accredited) or High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a related role.
  • CDL A driver's license required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise mechanics and operational support staff.
  • Manage maintenance and fleet activities to meet safety and performance standards.
  • Assist in budgeting and financial reviews; ensure timely reporting.
  • Ensure vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
  • Coordinate with drivers, shops, and stakeholders to prioritize repairs.
  • Maintain compliance with CARDS standards and regulations.

Job description

Position Summary The Fleet Manager is responsible for the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment within the assigned area, in alignment with corporate objectives.

Reports To Regional Fleet Manager

Responsibilities
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
  • Continually focuses on achieving market base profitability through effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities within the assigned area, including cost control, employee development, and high training and safety standards.
  • Ensures safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Manages effective utilization of vehicle assets.
  • Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
  • Ensures maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
  • Ensures vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
  • Complies with and ensures adherence to CARDS standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Meets all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Assists in budget process as required.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees and evaluating employee performance.
  • Attends and contributes to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
  • Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.
  • Monitor equipment repair requests to ensure repairs and maintenance are being prioritized and sequenced properly. Evaluate progress on assigned repairs

Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) or High School Equivalency and three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of relevant work experience as well as experience in a supervisory role (in addition to education requirement)
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for education requirements.
  • Expertise, knowledge and understanding of Diesel Vehicles, Equipment and Safety.
  • Valid CDL A driver’s license required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess good organizational skills and work independently.
Performance
  • Attendance and punctuality according to the work schedule are a must and are vital to the operations of the rest of the company.
  • Full time hours, additional hours may be needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, tools etc.) most of the workday.
  • Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 30 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.)
  • Occasional exposure to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements.
