Job summary

Winterberry Gardens in Southington, CT is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee all company vehicles and equipment, including replacement planning, repairs, inspections, inventory control, and fuel strategy. The role also involves vendor contracts, DOT compliance, and supervising technicians.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of landscape industry equipment, experience with fleet safety regulations, along with leadership, training, and performance evaluations.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in fleet management/maintenance.
• Knowledge of landscape industry equipment and maintenance programs.
• Experience with state, federal and local fleet safety regulations.
• Must have a valid driver's license; Class A preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage company vehicles and attachments, replacement analysis, repairs and inspections.
• Maintain inventory control, DOT compliance, vendor contracts and fuel strategy.
• Supervise technicians, conduct shop meetings, and participate in hiring decisions.
• Provide employee training and performance evaluations; build relationships with managers and vendors.

Description of position

Job Overview: Winterberry Gardens is seeking a fleet professional to manage both vehicles and equipment used in the business. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for managing all company vehicle and attachments. This includes replacement analysis, repairs, inspections, inventory control, DOT compliance, vendor contracts and fuel strategy. Responsible for Technician supervision, shop meetings, hiring decisions, employee training and performance evaluations. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, employees, vendors and others.

Qualifications/Duties/Requirements

• Minimum five years of experience in fleet management/maintenance
• Knowledge of and best practices related to landscape industry equipment/maintenance programs
• Experience with state, federal and local regulations related to fleet safety/permits
• Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to perform preventive repair.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations as well as write reports and procedure manuals.
• Must possess a valid drivers license. (Class A preferred)
• Bachelor's degree preferred, but a combination of of education and experience will be considered
