Job summary

Wanzek Construction, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Manager to lead procurement, scheduling, tracking and financial analysis of all fleet assets. You will develop fleet SOPs, manage CapEx, negotiate with vendors and partner with project teams to maximize utilization.

The role requires up to 25% travel with flexible location; proactive leadership and strong MS Office, Primavera and Viewpoint skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety per Zero Injury principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Primavera, Viewpoint and Construction Software techniques, estimating and construction management
  • Read, analyze and interpret specifications, journals, procedures, contracts or regulations; write reports and document department activities
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients and the public
  • Effectively present information to top management, boards of directors
  • Calculate figures such as discounts, interest, percentages and volumes; apply basic algebra and geometry
  • Resolve practical problems with concrete variables and varied instructions
  • Travel up to 50%; ability to drive and obtain proper licensing

Responsibilities

  • Lead Fleet management staff in procurement, scheduling and management of internal and external equipment assets to support project teams
  • Write and implement policies and SOPs to provide structured processes for fleet management
  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Provide financial analysis on equipment fleet and advise on CapEx purchases and disposals
  • Negotiate terms of Purchase, Lease or Rental with vendors using established procurement processes
  • Forecast needs with project teams and schedule internal and rental assets to maximize utilization
  • Review and approve invoices, purchase orders and quotes
  • Collect data into a management system to evaluate fleet health and availability
  • Oversee telematics system to assign, monitor, bill projects and create usage reports
  • Analyze and adjust internal fleet rental and time & materials rates for estimators
  • Manage the Annual CapEx budget and supervise subordinates for billing, scheduling and tracking of fleet

Job description

Overview

The Fleet Manager is responsible to lead and manage the procurement, scheduling, tracking, contracting, internal billing and financial analysis of all owned, rented or leased equipment assets. Lead the Fleet Team in the development and implementation of strategies, policies and SOPs to manage the fleet efficiently and support projects.

Travel Details

The location of this position is flexible, based on the identified candidate. This position will have up to 25% travel to regional office locations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Fleet management staff in procurement, scheduling and management of internal and external equipment assets to support project teams
  • Write and implement policies and SOPs to provide structured processes for fleet management
  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Provide financial analysis on equipment fleet and recommend courses of action to Director of Equipment Operations on CapEx purchases and disposals
  • Establish relationships and negotiate with vendors to rent, lease or purchase equipment assets based on schedule and needs analysis
  • Communicate with project teams to forecast needs and schedule internal and rental assets to satisfy requests while maximizing utilization of the fleet and meeting the schedule and budget of projects
  • Review and approve invoices, purchase orders and quotes related to equipment rental and purchase
  • Negotiate terms of Purchase, Lease or Rental of equipment assets and enter into agreements and POs with vendors using established Wanzek procurement processes and procedures
  • Collect data into a management system from various sources for purposes of using the data collected to evaluate and make recommendations to maintain equipment fleet health and availability
  • Supervise the implementation and use of telematics system and collect data from the fleet to assign, monitor, bill projects and create usage reports for all equipment
  • Analyze and recommend adjustments to internal fleet rental and T&M rates and provide timely assistance to the estimating teams
  • Manage the Annual CapEx budget for the Equipment Department Lead and manage subordinates to ensure efficient and accurate management of, billing, accounting scheduling, tracking and return of equipment fleet
Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred and/or combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years relevant experience; supervisory experience preferred

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Must be capable of up to 50% travel by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles, and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing
