Job Description

Diagnose, repair, adjust, or maintain any fleet equipment, such as forklifts, engines, pallet jacks, Tractors, and motorized carts in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturing specifications. Perform work using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. Able to communicate effectively and work as a member of a maintenance organization.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Inspect forklifts, man-lifts, boom lifts, “Joey’s”, and powered pallet jacks for proper performance.
  • Adjust equipment and replace faulty parts.
  • Repair damaged equipment parts.
  • Clean, lubricate, and conduct routine services on heavy‑duty vehicles.
  • Clean and service machine attachments.
  • Perform major repair work when necessary.
  • Consult with other mechanics on smaller jobs.
  • Report damaged or faulty equipment to management.
Electrical
  • Safely measure voltage, current and power in AC and DC circuits.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot controls and electrical faults on machinery.
  • Basic wiring and understanding of wire gauges.
  • Use a computer and diagnostic software to diagnose electrical and automation problems.
Mechanical
  • Align, install, and maintain belt drives and pulleys; chain and sprocket drives; shaft assemblies; pillow block bearings; various couplings.
  • Install/replace motors.
  • Understand air and water systems.
Hydraulic
  • Understand fluid contamination prevention processes and procedures.
  • Install, repair, and maintain pumps, hoses, valves, cylinders, filters, regulators, seals.
Other
  • Conduct all work on premises.
  • Work in dusty factory environment subject to extreme heat and cold temperatures.
  • Work well with others in a team environment to problem‑solve and provide backup as needed.
  • Work at heights exceeding 3 feet.
Education and Experience Requirements

A minimum of an HS diploma/GED and certification in any of the skilled maintenance trades. Minimum 1–3 years of basic mechanical experience. Basic understanding of computers including Microsoft Office. Knowledge of preventive maintenance software and scheduling various equipment. Current material handling certification, Lock Out/Tag Out, Lifting & Rigging, preventive or predictive maintenance.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration Requirements

Heavy Equipment mechanic, Vo-Tech certificate in any of the skilled maintenance trades, AAON Provided Education list.
