Daytime Fleet Maintenance Supervisor - Bronx

Essential Job Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor oversees a team of technicians and welders to maintain equipment and fleet in peak operating condition. The role includes providing direction, ensuring safe and efficient repair/maintenance, managing preventative maintenance, and handling administrative duties such as parts procurement, inventory management, asset tracking, and cost control. The supervisor also monitors vehicle performance and cost through fleet management and onboard computing software.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide direction to A, B, and C level technicians and lead technicians to ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and timely.
  • Report to management on performance; make recommendations for process or programmatic improvements.
  • Supervise technicians in the maintenance shop, conducting daily shop huddles, yard checks, coaching/counseling/training, and performance evaluations. Participate in hiring/termination decisions with Human Resources and management.
  • Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure compliance with company safety procedures, federal and state regulations, and quality standards.
  • Identify training opportunities, document issues, and conduct corrective action discussions with technicians.
  • Conduct quality control inspections, track issues and resolutions to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory procedures.
  • Oversee repair diagnostics on complex matters and provide coaching; may be required to road test vehicles to determine necessary repairs.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission, transmission, brake, hydraulic, electrical, heating, and air‑conditioning systems to perform preventive and repair maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
  • Manage administrative matters for the team, including payroll, employee records, maintenance logs, and recording data into TMT Maintenance Software.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 2+ years of supervisory or foreman/lead experience.
  • Experience with electrical systems, air brakes, medium and heavy‑duty diesel engines, and computer‑aided diagnostics (e.g., CAT ET, Cummins Insite, Premium Tech Tool).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.
  • Advanced experience with fleet management and onboard computing software.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT CMV rules, OSHA, and other federal and local regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred.
Additional Information

IWS’s base pay takes into account factors such as internal equity, geographic region, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and business needs.

Bonus

This role is bonus eligible as part of the compensation package.

Salary Range

Minimum: USD $75,000.00 per year.

Maximum: USD $95,000.00 per year.
