Job summary

Final Mile in Memphis, TN seeks a Fleet Technician III to diagnose, repair, and maintain Class 8 tractors and trailing equipment, including diesel engines, powertrains, electrical, brakes, HVAC, DPF, and aftertreatment systems.

You will perform preventive maintenance, road tests, and advanced component work with welding, electronics, and diagnostic software, using standard hand and power tools. A valid driver’s license and tool set are required.

Qualifications

• 4 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational/Technical certification preferred.
• Demonstrated customer service and relationship building skills.
• Expert understanding of fleet maintenance policies and DOT standards.
• Organized with ability to handle multiple activities in fast-paced environments.
• Specialized training in diagnosis/troubleshooting major components; OEM training (FRTL/INTL) preferred; ASE 608/609 preferred.
• Proficiency with welding equipment, diagnostic tools, and hand/power tools.
• Clean MVR and ability to operate a service truck preferred.
• Strong work ethic and excellent communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety practices and SOPs across operations.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain, electrical, and brakes with minimal supervision.
• Perform all levels of preventive maintenance on trucks and trailing equipment.
• Inspect, test, and document repairs on repair orders.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
• Mentor junior technicians and provide repair instructions as needed.
• Ensure DOT compliance in all maintenance activities.
