Job summary

The U.S. Capitol Police is seeking an Automotive Technician to maintain and repair a wide range of fleet vehicles in the Vehicle Management Division.

The role includes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and installation/removal of emergency equipment and accessories to ensure vehicle readiness for mission-critical operations. Duties encompass electrical and mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, braking, HVAC, and specialized police equipment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in mechanical repairs of fleet vehicles.
• Experience with electrical, ignition, HVAC, steering, suspension, wheels, brakes, engines and transmissions.
• Ability to diagnose and repair using test equipment; inspect and rebuild components as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform full range of mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles.
• Install and remove police emergency equipment and accessories.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, ignition, HVAC, steering, suspension, brakes, engines and transmissions.
• Install and service emergency lighting, radios, sirens and related equipment; maintain bicycles.
