Job summary

SEKISUI Aerospace in Renton, WA seeks a Flammability and Material & Process Engineer to ensure FAR 25 compliance and substantiation testing across programs. The engineer reviews designs, specs, and customer requests to develop flammability data and ensures regulatory compliance.

The role develops tests, coordinates DERs for approvals, and manages materials qualification and process updates while supporting TSCA/Reach/ROHS compliance and collaboration with engineering and production teams.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aerospace flammability requirements and materials specifications.
  • Experience with flammability testing, substantiation, and certification processes.
  • Understanding of TSCA/Reach/ROHS compliance in manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings to incorporate flammability and process requirements.
  • Develop qualification and flammability tests and substantiation plans.
  • Coordinate with flammability DERs for document approvals and testing activities.
  • Coordinate and manage all flammability substantiation and certification activities for multiple programs.
  • Develop or update manufacturing processes and material specifications.
  • Manage obsolescence of materials or qualification of new materials.
  • Coordinate with engineering and production for process updates or new qualifications.
  • Work with customers or regulatory agencies to ensure TSCA/Reach/ROHS compliance.
  • Assist Quality Assurance with process control testing support and statistical data analysis.

Flammability and Material & Process Engineer

Location(s): Renton, WA

Job Type: Exempt Full-Time

Annual Salary

$91,500 - $130,000 DOE

Flammability and Material & Process Engineering ensures products and processes comply with FAR 25 flammability and mechanical properties requirements. The Engineer reviews designs, specifications, and customer requests to develop flammability substantiation data, verifies TSCA/Reach/ROHS compliance, and assists lab personnel with test activities.

Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities
  • Review all engineering drawings to consider Flammability and Process requirements
  • Develop qualification and flammability tests and substantiation plans
  • Coordinate with flammability DERs for document approvals and testing activities
  • Coordinate and manage all flammability substantiation and certification activities for multiple programs
  • Develop new or update existing manufacturing processes and material specifications
  • Manage obsolescence of materials or qualification of new material
  • Coordinate with engineering and production for any process updates or new qualifications required
  • Work with the customer or regulatory agency in compliance with TSCA/Reach/ROHS
  • Assist Quality Assurance with process control testing support and statistical process control data analysis
Preferred Qualification
  • Knowledge of the Aerospace Industry and FAA flammability requirements and regulations, aerospace certification, and material & process specifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of Aerospace Flammability, Material & Process Engineering, Certification (or equivalent) experience
Education

Bachelor in Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Computer Skills

Basic Microsoft Office Suite

Pay

SEKISUI Aerospace is required by Washington law to include the salary range for this role when hiring a Washington resident. Pay ranges may be higher or lower for non‑resident WA employees, based on the market data for their region, allowing us to pay employees competitively in different geographic markets.
