Job summary

Patz Corporation is seeking a skilled welder/jig builder to operate in a factory setting. You will read blueprints, construct welding jigs and fixtures from prints, and maintain tooling while documenting material usage and costs.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and adherence to established procedures. Responsibilities include assisting welders, inspecting fixtures, and keeping records for the Welding Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and understand drawings, shop mathematics, handbook formulas, and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
• At least one year experience welding or welding course.
• Must be able to work from detailed instructions.
• Must be able to pass a basic weld test.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
• From prints, sketches, or instructions, construct welding jigs and fixtures per specifications using machine tools and precision measuring devices.
• Determine material requirements and requisition material as required.
• Maintain, repair, adjust or replace tooling associated with fixtures.
• Maintain computer records on all welding jigs and fixtures and report updates to the Welding Supervisor.
• Ensure jigs/fixtures meet OSHA and Patz standards and are labeled and guarded.
• Consider ergonomic factors and production standards in design and construction of jigs/fixtures.
• Assist welders in setup and troubleshoot die/jig problems.
• Pull jigs/fixtures for production and inspect before use and after production runs.
• Check machine tools for proper operation and report malfunctions.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Job description

$21.75 - $32.50/hour; pay based on qualifications and experience

Working in accordance with verbal and written instructions and established procedure, and as assigned by the supervisor, perform a variety of duties.

• Must be able to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols.
• Working from prints, sketches, and instructions given, construct a variety of welding jigs and welding fixtures necessary to produce finished parts per specifications given using a variety of machine tools and precision measuring devices.
• Determine material requirements and requisition material as required.
• Maintain, repair, adjust or replace tooling associated with fixtures.
• Maintain computer records on all welding jigs and fixtures including their location and costs and activities. All of these records must be updated and supplied to the Welding Supervisor on a regular basis.
• Jigs and fixtures shall be designed, built, labeled and guarded to meet OSHA requirements and Patz Corporation, Inc. standards.
• Ergonomic factors along with production standards shall be considered in the design and construction of all jigs and fixtures.
• Assist welders in set up as required and when trouble shooting die and jig problems.
• Pull welding jigs and fixtures as required for production and inspect before use and prior to putting away at end of production run for damage and wear.
• Check all machine tools for proper operation and report any malfunctions to the Welding Supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Education Requirements

• Should be able to read and understand drawings, shop mathematics, handbook formulas, and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
• At least one year experience welding or welding course.
• Must be able to work from detailed instructions.
• Must be able to pass a basic weld test.

Physical Demands

• In an 8-hour day the employee must stand/walk 6-8 hours and sit 1-4 hours.
• Must frequently use hand(s) for repetitive movement single grasping, and occasionally pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Must occasionally use foot/feet for repetitive movement as in operating foot controls.
• Must frequently bend, twist, and reach, and occasionally squat.
• Must perform Light Heavy Work, lifting 75 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Typical Working Conditions

Located in a factory setting with a large amount of noise and distractions.
