Job summary

Dodge & Cox is seeking a Fixed Income Analytics Associate to join the Fixed Income Portfolio Analytics Team in San Francisco. You will partner with clients and investment teams to deliver portfolio insights, reporting, and efficient client communications.

The role involves building dashboards, automating reporting, and supporting quarter-end processes. A four-year degree and 2+ years in the investment industry are required; Excel/PowerPoint proficiency and CFA interest are preferred.

  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with CRM and Bloomberg as a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with enterprise AI tools, or a strong willingness to creatively apply AI to drive productivity and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of and interest in using Tableau, Python, and SQL.
  • CFA designation or established interest in obtaining the CFA designation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze portfolio and market data to craft insights for external client materials.
  • Assist on custom client/consultant requests and projects, coordinating with investment teams.
  • Serve as Fixed Income team liaison to the RFP/reporting team on complex materials.
  • Provide support to portfolio management for internal meetings (e.g., attribution, positioning, risk data).
  • Assist with thought leadership and content creation with Communications team.

Job description

Dodge & Cox is seeking to hire a Fixed Income Analytics Associate. As a member of the Fixed Income Portfolio Analytics Team (“FIPAT”), the Fixed Income Analytics Associate will partner with our client and investment teams to deliver portfolio strategy insights and ensure we meet existing and prospective client/consultant needs thoughtfully, accurately, and in a timely manner. The successful candidate will be expected to become knowledgeable about each of the firm’s fixed income investment strategies and vehicles, as well as data and systems, with unqualified expertise in the firm’s external reporting and communications materials, policies, and practices. The candidate will occasionally be expected to manage tight deadlines, a high workload, and extended hours around the quarter-end reporting period in particular.

Primary responsibilities include:
Investment strategy reporting / insights:
  • Analyze portfolio and market data to craft insights for use in external client materials (including market, investment strategy, and performance attribution commentary)
  • Assist on custom investment-related client/consultant requests and projects, coordinating with investment team members as appropriate
  • Serve as a Fixed Income team liaison to the RFP/reporting team on complex RFPs, due diligence questionnaires, and other quantitative and qualitative materials
  • Provide support to portfolio management team for internal meetings and projects (e.g., portfolio attribution, positioning, risk data)
  • Assist with thought leadership and content creation, in collaboration with the Communications team
Lead or contribute to a variety of data & analytical projects to enhance our client service effort:
  • Create and maintain code/macros to streamline production of client exhibits and other reporting content
  • Create dashboards via Tableau to deliver insights used by client and investment teams
  • Contribute to data and reporting automation initiatives, partnering with internal teams
  • Conduct peer and industry trend analysis
Support certain client relationships in partnership with Client Portfolio Managers
  • Assume ownership of account-specific reporting and presentation materials
  • Participate in meetings/calls with clients to gain insights about client objectives and to deliver messaging about the firm and their investment mandate(s)

Requirements:
  • Dodge & Cox has a 4/1 hybrid work model, and all Dodge & Cox employees are required to be in their assigned office as noted in the job posting Monday - Thursday each week, with the option to work remotely on Friday.

The salary range for this position is $100k - $145k.

The listed pay scale denotes only the pay range of the base salary and does not include discretionary bonus compensation, which may make up an important portion of the total remuneration. Dodge & Cox encourages applicants to consider the value of the many competitive benefits it offers, including coverage of 100% of all healthcare premiums for employees and their families and fully funding a retirement plan at 25% of the total compensation to the IRS limit. The listed pay scale reflects the base salary Dodge & Cox reasonably expects to pay for this position and is not a reflection of the highest and lowest base salary of any current Dodge & Cox employee.
