Job summary

Harsco Rail in the United States is seeking skilled metal fabricators to assemble structural metal products and machinery frames. You will read blueprints, plan layouts, and perform welding and assembly with attention to precise tolerances.

Responsibilities include layout, fit, tack welds, testing, and verification of parts, using inspection tools. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement within our rail maintenance equipment division.

Qualifications

  • Must read and interpret detailed drawings and welding procedures.
  • Experience with precision fittings and layout per blueprints.
  • Ability to set up and use inspection equipment.
  • Familiarity with prints tolerances and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develops layout and plans sequence of operations for metal fabrication.
  • Lay out, fit, tack weld, pressure tight, test and repair piping systems and tanks to blueprint specs.
  • Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications using square, ruler, and measuring tape.
  • Communicate welding issues to Supervisors and Welders.
  • Mentor others in training and process improvements.

Job Description

Performs a variety ofMetal Fabrication and assembles structural metal products, such as framework for machinery, tanks, stacks, and metal parts for buildings and bridges according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints: Develops layout and plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of trigonometry, stock allowances for thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and physical properties of metal.

Responsibilities

Lay out, fit, tack weld, pressure tight, test and repair to blueprint specifications all piping system, fuel tanks, or any other pressured vessel he mayassignedexcluding all hydraulic cylinders.

Lays out, fits, assemblers, tack welds and straightens fabrications to blueprint specifications with the use of jigs,fixturesand/or instructions

Verifies conformance of workpieceto specifications, using square, ruler, and measuring tape.

Qualifications

I. Basic Qualifications (Required)

Education

2 – 3 years of trade training and high school

Experience

A minimum of three - fiveyearspractical experience isrequired.

II. Preferred Qualifications

Education or Experience

Associates Degree(AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.

Interpersonal Skills

Ability to setup andutilizeinspection equipment.

Ability to write in a clear and concise manner

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions

Ability tocommunicate welding issues to Supervisors and Welders

Technical Skills

Must have expert knowledge of Weld Symbols and Weld Positions used in production.

Must be able to read and understand detailed drawings and welding procedures/specifications.

Must have experience using standard measuring tool

Understanding of Print tolerances

Basic computer knowledge isrequired: Accessand Excel.

V. Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.

Requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.

Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

VI. Schedule / Shift

Work schedule and shift assignment may vary based on operational needs.

Overtime, weekend, and holiday work may be required as business demands dictate.
