Job summary

Peoples Natural Gas, a division of Essential Utilities, seeks a Fitter to operate and maintain natural gas piping systems at the Kiski location in Western Pennsylvania. A CDL and outdoor construction experience are required.

You will set meters, repair lines, and operate heavy equipment such as backhoes; all work follows strict safety and pipeline rules. Background checks and DOT drug screening are required; veterans are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Proven experience working outdoors performing construction/manual labor.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment, backhoe experience is preferred.
• Successful completion of a background investigation, including criminal history report, motor vehicle report and a DOT drug screening.
• Strong preference will be given to applicants with prior pipeline experience.

• Assist in the construction, operation and maintenance of gas distribution, transportation or production system.
• Set meters, retire old meter sets, set curb boxes, repair service lines, connect and disconnect meters, repair leaks.
• Use tapping and other air compressor equipment and making connections at mainlines.
• Perform ditch digging, back filling, carrying tools and materials connected with the job.
• Operate one or more of the following types of equipment: backhoes, excavators, dump trucks.

Job Description

The Fitter will perform skilled duties and operate equipment for the operation, maintenance and installation of natural gas piping system and related natural gas facilities

This position is a covered function regulated by 49 CFR Part 192 (pipeline safety rules) and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
