Job summary

Aerotek in Pueblo, CO is seeking a Fitter to assemble wind turbine tower components using hand and power tools. This contract-to-hire role is fully onsite, with 7am–7pm shifts (A & B).

You'll work in a heavy manufacturing environment and join a 2–3 person quality team. Responsibilities include assembling components per drawings, performing quality checks, operating forklifts, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret production drawings and technical work instructions.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and understanding English.
  • Must pass pre-employment Reading, Math, and Locating Information Assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble components according to instructions, drawings, and quality requirements.
  • Perform product quality inspections and correct issues.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts.
  • Coordinate with Team Leaders and production staff to prioritize work.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Perform daily equipment maintenance checks.
  • Follow safety protocols and environmental requirements.
  • Replenish assembly consumables.
  • Follow Production Work Instructions and Process Specifications.

Job description

Job Title: Fitter

This position is responsible for the assembly of all internal parts into finished tower sections to support the fabrication of wind turbine towers. The role involves using pneumatic hand tools and small hand tools for the assembly and installation of platforms, ladders, and lighting fixtures.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment by following all safety protocols and performing routine housekeeping and workplace organization.
  • Perform activities as outlined in Production Work Instructions and Process Specifications.
  • Assemble components according to instructions, drawings, and quality requirements.
  • Perform product quality inspections and make corrections as required.
  • Operate material handling equipment, such as fork trucks and bogies.
  • Ensure that safety and environmental requirements are met.
  • Replenish assembly consumables.
  • Perform daily maintenance inspections on equipment and correct minor issues.
  • Coordinate with Team Leaders and other production employees to prioritize products to process.
Essential Skills
  • Experience with assembly and assembly line processes.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and perform quality checks.
  • Experience in fabrication and fitting.
  • Capability to handle general labor tasks and heavy lifting.
  • Forklift operation skills.

Work Environment

The work environment is a very industrial manufacturing setting with significant fabrication and welding activities. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, requiring comfort with all weather conditions. Employees will work in teams of 2-3 in the quality department. Shifts are from 7am to 7pm, covering both A & B shifts.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pueblo, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
