Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Wellness team in Palm City, FL seeks a Fitness Specialist to coach, train, and support patients transitioning from rehab to independent exercise. You’ll supervise activities, help design incentive programs, and lead group classes across multiple sites including Hobe Sound and the Palm City hub.

The role offers a daytime schedule (6:30AM–2:30PM or 8:00AM–4:30PM) with flexibility and opportunities to innovate within a patient-first healthcare environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The Wellness team at Palm City Medical Center is looking to add a Fitness Specialist to the team. This opportunity will allow you to share your knowledge with the community and work with many diverse types of medical conditions that other fitness centers normally do not see. You will provide coaching, training and support to patients with the transition from Rehab to fitness to meet their personal objectives. The ideal candidate can work with a population that differs from highly fit to those in need of a skilled trainer to help them return to exercise safely after their physical rehabilitation. We are always looking for leaders who are willing to share ideas and start innovative programs.

A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 6:30AM – 2:30PM or 8:00AM – 4:30PM. Start and stop times can be flexible.

With current business needs, this position will not be fixed to one site. Supporting Hobe Sound and the Hub location will be required, as needed. Training will take place at Palm City.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Supervise exercise activities, monitor exercising participants and interact with members to ensure that exercise programs are done safely and effectively.
• Create, implement and evaluate incentive programs to enhance exercise adherence and retention.
• Assist with the development and instruction of group exercise classes.
• Teach participants on class method, purpose and procedures.
• Carry out other projects and duties as assigned by department supervisor or fitness center manager.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• One year of experience in a Fitness Center environment

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor's Degree
• First-Aid, ACE and CSCS
• Background in program management and/or exercise testing
• Active Fitness Training Certification (e.g., CPT)

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to maneuver, carry, lift, bend, stoop, swim, walk and sit for extended periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
