Job summary

The Sewickley Valley YMCA is seeking a part-time Group Exercise Instructor to lead engaging fitness classes and motivate members toward healthier lifestyles in Sewickley, PA.

You will apply your strength training knowledge, maintain current fitness certifications (group exercise, CPR, AED), and uphold the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility while delivering safe, energetic workouts.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Working knowledge of strength training and fitness.
• Current group exercise instructor certification required.
• CPR and AED certification must be current or obtained within six weeks of employment.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service, problem solving and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead group exercise classes and motivate participants to achieve goals.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and energetic workout environment.

As a Fitness Instructor at the YMCA, you’ll be the spark that inspires members to push past their limits, discover their strength, and build confidence — both inside and outside the gym. The candidate must accept and demonstrate the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The candidate must be able to perform physical tasks commensurate with the position requirements.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older to apply
• Possessing working knowledge of strength training and fitness.
• Must possess a current group exercise instructor certification.
• Possess and maintain a current CPR and AED certification or successfully complete no later than six weeks after employment begins.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service, problem solving and verbal communication skills.
• Possess and demonstrate an ability to: read, interpret and effectively communicate documents, information and instructions such as safety rules, strength training and Mobile Fit instructions, and YMCA policies and procedures.

All positions require the ability to obtain PA State Police, PA Child Abuse History, FBI Fingerprint and National Sex Offenders Registry Clearances. If you do not have current clearances the Y will help you obtain them.
