BALBOA BAY CLUB VENTURES LLC is seeking a dynamic Group Fitness Instructor to lead classes and create engaging routines for members and guests at our United States facility. You will demonstrate exercises, explain movements, and ensure safe use of equipment while keeping participants motivated.

You will hold CPR/First Aid certification, bring solid group exercise experience, and adapt workouts for varied fitness levels.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Teach aerobics, mind-body or basic fitness classes and develop routines.
  • Explain exercises in detail and provide safe alternatives.
  • Monitor participants for safety and report incidents.
  • Set up and clean equipment; promote fitness programs to members and guests.
  • Record attendance and maintain cleanliness of the fitness area.

Job description

Position Summary:Conduct group exercise classes that improve the overall member participant fitness levels. Explain the exercises in a clear and efficient way, while demonstrating how to do the exercises and use the training equipment safely, to avoid injuries.Duties & ResponsibilitiesImplement aerobics exercise, mind-body or basic fitness classes.Teach fitness classes, develop routines, exercises, and choreography to members and guests.Explain exercises in detail and suggest alternatives if needed.Explain the function of exercise movement, describe the muscles worked and offer exercise modification to guests and members with physical restrictions.Monitor performance of guests and members during class to ensure their safety.Follow and enforce safety regulations and other policies and procedures.Document and report incidents.Perform CPR and administer first aid in case of emergency.Document and report incidents.Promote the facilities and fitness programs to members and guests.Record class attendance.Maintain cleanliness of room or gymnasium.Work with supervisor regarding program information, class changes, and member service issues.Set-up and clean-up equipment where needed.Inform clients about fitness center safety and hygiene guidelines.Build a positive and trusting relationship with members and guests.Other Responsibilities/Supportive Functions:In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:Regular attendance in conformance with our standardsDue to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs including weekends, holidays, etc.Maintain cleanliness of the fitness center and equipmentResearch new exercise techniques and trendsQualifications (relevant experience, education and training):The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.Excellent verbal communication skillsStrong customer service skillsAbility to explain and demonstrate basic exercise physiology principlesAbility to positively motivate members/guests in fitness activitiesKnowledge in aerobic/anaerobic and strength conditioning requiredFirst Aid and CPR certifiedSpecific formats will require certifications (Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Barre)1 year of Group Exercise Instruction requiredSpecial Skills & Abilities/Mental and Physical Demands:Frequently stands, bends, stoops, twist and turn for prolonged periods of time.Works in both indoor and outdoor areasExposure to heat and coldWorks on slippery or uneven surfacesAbility to see and hear distress signals of members and guestsMust be able to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 50 poundsFrequently grasps objects like weights and other fitness equipmentFrequently reaches by extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any directionRegularly talks when communicating with members & guests
