POSITION SUMMARY
The Fitness Instructor assists the Director of Community Life Services in planning and implementing engaging programs that promote active living, wellness, and community engagement for residents. This role places a strong emphasis on fitness, health, and active aging initiatives, while also supporting a wide range of recreational, educational, and social programs that align with LCS Lifestyles and Health Services and the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.
This role is a part-time position up to 25 hours weekly!
Essential Job Duties
- Assist with planning and facilitating fitness and wellness‑focused programs, including group exercise classes, health workshops, Active Aging Week events, balance and mobility sessions, and other activities that support residents’ physical well‑being.
- Support the coordination of a variety of recreational, educational, and social programs, including discussion groups, clubs, arts and crafts, seminars, workshops, cultural activities, religious services, entertainment, in‑house movies, and off‑property excursions.
- Assist with implementing specialized wellness programming for residents affected by Alzheimer’s/Dementia and Parkinson’s disease, incorporating movement, sensory stimulation, and cognitive engagement.
- Set up and break down chairs, tables, and equipment required for activities, fitness classes, and special events.
- Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and attendance in programs.
- Research and recommend new fitness, wellness, and enrichment opportunities, including events, guest speakers, and trips.
- Contribute to the development of intergenerational programming and lifelong learning opportunities that promote creativity, engagement, and overall wellness.
Other Duties
- Attend in‑service training and education sessions as assigned; Must be CPR, AED, and First Aid certified.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
