Job summary

The Town of Castle Rock Recreation Center is seeking an energetic fitness instructor to develop and lead classes such as aerobics, cycling, strength, yoga and water aerobics at our Castle Rock, CO location.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of experience teaching fitness classes, and CPR/First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain within 30 days) along with a National Fitness Certification. The role emphasizes safety, client service, and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certifications are required (which can be obtained at the Recreation Center) or ability to attain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Develops and instructs various fitness classes which may include aerobics, cycling, strength, yoga and water aerobics. Develops class content appropriate to the course description and level. Adapts content and instruction for participant fitness and skill level.
• Educates participants on proper technique to ensure safety.
• Keeps accurate records including class attendance.
• Attends staff meetings and workshops to stay current in Town of Castle Rock offerings and in fitness trends/certifications.
• Provides customer service by answering questions regarding fitness classes and responding to customer concerns.

Minimum Qualifications

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education

Experience

Two (2) years of experience in teaching fitness classes; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Licenses and/or Certifications Required

• CPR and First Aid Certifications are required (which can be obtained at the Recreation Center) or ability to attain within 30 days of hire

Physical Demands

• Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds
• Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
• Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
• Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
• Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
• Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment

Equipment Used

• This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment
