YMCA in Huber Heights, OH is seeking a part-time Fitness Counselor to guide and motivate members in the Fitness Center and wellness areas. The role emphasizes safety, engagement, and promoting YMCA programs, with a welcoming environment for all.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 18+, and preferred 2-year degree or relevant experience, plus possible certifications in Personal Training or Group Exercise. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with hourly pay.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of six months fitness class participation or fitness class assistant experience.
• A 2-year college degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science or related field or applicable experience preferred.
• Certifications such as Personal Training or Group Exercise Instructor are helpful.

• Remains visible to participants when on duty.
• Increases member and program participant awareness of healthy lifestyle factors.
• Communicates and enforces wellness center rules at participants’ comprehension level.

• Promotes wellness and other YMCA programs.
• Responsible for all aspects of safety in wellness program areas.
• Inspects equipment within Fitness Center for safety hazards, damage or wear.
• Communicates to direct supervisor any concerns or incidents that may need follow-up.
• Communicates any suggestions to improve the programs within the wellness area.
• Maintains cleanliness of Fitness Center through routine cleaning schedule.
