About us

Halfords is on a journey - building the future of motoring and cycling and looking for people who want to help shape what comes next. We’re a place for co-creators: people who want to make a real impact, take ownership and be part of something that’s still evolving.

As the UK’s leading retailer of motoring and cycling products, we’re supported by one of the country’s largest independent vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair networks through Halfords Autocentres. This breadth gives us a strong, stable foundation - and the freedom to keep innovating and growing.

That means real variety for our colleagues, along with the opportunity to learn, stretch and develop as the business moves forward. Whatever your role, you’ll be part of a team focused on delivering exceptional service - using your expertise to solve problems, guide customers and help keep the nation moving with confidence.

About the role

As part of the Fleet Support Team, you’ll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day activities and ongoing development of the F4F function. You’ll work closely with the F4F management team and wider HCFS teams, ensuring processes, systems and data are effectively managed and that the team continues to deliver against its objectives.

This is a varied role that combines team management, operational support, problem solving and stakeholder management. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact by identifying opportunities, supporting change and helping to develop both the team and the wider F4F function.

Key responsibilities

  • Promote and champion the Halfords values across the team.
  • Manage authorisation and fleet data activities through the Fleet Support Team.
  • Oversee the attendance portal, including basic salary and overtime activity for the Fleet Support Team.
  • Manage interactions between other HCFS entities in relation to F4F Support Team activities.
  • Oversee initial customer and supplier system set‑up, along with any subsequent changes.
  • Liaise closely with the F4F management team on all aspects of activity.
  • Work collaboratively with HCFS teams where needed to support F4F activity.
  • Play a key role in the ongoing development plan and future direction of the F4F function.
  • Develop team skills, support colleague development and continually review team performance.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and use effective problem‑solving skills to overcome challenges.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced and adaptable people manager who can confidently manage a broad range of activities and work effectively with different teams and stakeholders.

You’ll be resourceful and innovative, with the ability to find practical solutions when faced with difficult or challenging situations. You’ll be comfortable working in an environment where change is ongoing and will be confident in both adapting to change and identifying opportunities to improve the way we work.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Management or Team Leader experience across a broad range of activities.
  • An understanding of Microsoft systems and other platforms used within an F4F environment.
  • Experience of identifying opportunities and using problem‑solving skills to improve processes.
  • A resourceful and innovative approach to overcoming difficult or challenging situations.
  • The ability to adapt to and promote change effectively.
  • An understanding of income and expenditure mechanisms.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across different teams.
  • A focus on developing people, improving performance and delivering results.
  • A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
  • Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
  • We offer hybrid working arrangements, you will be based at our Stafford office 3 days a week with an optional 2 days working from home.
