Job summary

The Fisheries & Wildlife Biological Scientist II works with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Wildlife and Habitat Management Section at Triple N Ranch and Bull Creek Wildlife Management Areas in Osceola County.

The role involves managing approximately 12,000 acres through prescribed fire, mechanical and chemical vegetation control, and habitat restoration for imperiled species including red-cockaded woodpeckers, northern bobwhites, and white-tailed deer.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus 5 years of professional experience in a related biological field, or a Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field (substitutes for 4 years).
  • Valid Florida Class E driver's license.
  • Knowledge of ecology, wildlife management, and GIS.
  • Ability to work independently and plan work assignments.
  • Ability to identify common and imperiled wildlife species.
  • Ability to operate outdoors in inclement weather and frequently carry more than 50 pounds.
