Job summary

Entarian is seeking a Fisheries Biologist to support the NOAA Southeast Fisheries Science Center in Pascagoula, MS. The role involves field work to study protected species and a range of collection and analysis activities, including plankton surveys, sample handling, and data management within the Pascagoula Laboratory.

Responsibilities span resource surveys, laboratory support, data management, and outreach.

Qualifications

• MS degree or BS with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of marine plankton research methods and field techniques.
• At-sea viability for extended cruises and shipboard work.
• Proficient in zooplankton/ichthyoplankton identification and reporting.
• Ability to write reports and presentations; familiar with data/graphics tools.
• Maintain health/certifications for field work; comply with safety rules.
• US citizen or permanent resident with ability to pass background checks.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Survey participation in large vessel plankton surveys and other resource surveys.
• Identify invertebrate zooplankton from Gulf habitats and SEAMAP samples.
• Prepare samples and shipping paperwork; arrange carrier pickups.
• Maintain DOT/IATA shipping certifications and hazardous materials handling.
• Enter and verify SEAMAP invertebrate zooplankton data; support analyses.
• Present findings at workshops; coordinate abstracts and publications.
