Job summary

The State of Alaska, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries, is seeking a Fish and Wildlife Technician 3 in Kodiak, Alaska. This full-time, seasonal position handles entering, verifying, and managing scallop data, maintains records, and supports data quality and reporting.

Under supervision of a biologist, you may assist with at-sea sampling, process biological specimens, and help with lab inventory and field operations.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting for a Fish and Wildlife Technician 3 located in Kodiak, Alaska!

What You Will Be Doing:

This is a full-time, seasonal position located in Kodiak that is responsible for entering, verifying, and managing scallop fishery and survey data, maintaining accurate physical and electronic records, and resolving data quality issues. It also processes biological specimens for research by preparing, labeling, organizing, and shipping samples while maintaining laboratory supplies and inventory. Under the supervision of a biologist, the position may also assist with at-sea sampling by collecting biological and catch data and supporting other field and program operations, as needed.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This position is staffed in the ADF&G office in Kodiak, Alaska. Kodiak is a small town located on Kodiak Island and provides opportunities for fishing, hiking, berry picking, hunting, and exploring the outdoors. The daily work environment is dynamic and includes working at a desk in an office setting, at processing plants, and occasionally living and working aboard vessels at sea. Travel may be required to participate in scallop observer deployments and stock assessment surveys outside of standard business hours and on weekends.

• Organization and Teamwork: Prioritizes multiple tasks, maintains equipment and supplies, communicates effectively with biologists and team members, and supports overall program operations.

Special Note:

A valid driver's license is required. First Aid/CPR training will be provided if not already certified. High school graduation or the equivalent. Six months experience at the developmental level or one year of technical laboratory and/or field experience may be considered. Substitutions and other qualifications are listed in the posting.
