Job summary

The North Dakota Office of Management and Budget is seeking a curious student to join the Fiscal Management Analyst team during the 2027 Legislative Session in Bismarck.

You will attend committee hearings, track bills and appropriations, analyze budget data in Excel, and help prepare clear summaries and reports that inform the executive budget process. This internship includes mentorship and real-world government finance exposure.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in finance, accounting, political science, economics, business, public administration, public policy, or a related field.
• Enrolled as a full-time student at sophomore status or above.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Attend legislative committee hearings and capture key discussions impacting the budget.
• Track bills, amendments, appropriations, and legislative activity during the 2027 session.
• Analyze budget and financial information using Excel to identify trends and impacts.
• Research state agency budgets, programs, funding, and policy issues.
• Prepare clear summaries, spreadsheets, and reports for the team.
