Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services seeks a Fiscal Assistant at Clarks Summit State Hospital to support daily billing and payments, maintaining accurate records in billing and accounting systems.

You will prepare, send, and track bills, post charges and payments, and assist with monthly balances and financial statements. The position offers telework up to three days per week with in-office days, and PA residency is required.

Competenze

  • Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work
  • An associate degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits in accounting
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree

The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a motivated Fiscal Assistant to join the team at Clarks Summit State Hospital. This role offers an exciting opportunity to strengthen your financial skills while contributing to meaningful work each day. This position supports the daily financial operations of the Reimbursement Office by maintaining accurate records and processing billing and payments. It ensures that financial information is current, consistent, and handled with care. As a Fiscal Assistant, you will perform the following duties:

  • Data Maintenance: Keep client demographic, beneficiary, and residence information updated in billing and accounting systems
  • Billing Preparation: Prepare, send, and track bills for care and treatment, including follow-up on disputed or rejected payments
  • Accounts Management: Post charges, adjustments, and payments, and complete monthly balances and financial statements
  • Payment Processing: Record daily receipts, prepare deposits, safeguard monetary items, and notify the Comptroller of completed deposits
  • Report Support: Gather financial data, prepare draft reports, and submit information as directed by the supervisor

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. You must report to the office two days per week. In-office training dates will be determined by the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clarks Summit, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
  • An associate degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits in accounting; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
