Job summary

Boeing is hiring a Reliability Technician for the North Charleston, SC area to support the 787 Production Engineering team. The role focuses on analyzing downtime, upgrading assets, and applying reliability practices to ensure production assets are reliable from the start.

Primary responsibilities include developing technical requirements, managing drawings, and training personnel in inspection and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Mid-Level (Level 3) 5+ years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Senior (Level 4) 8+ years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling software programs
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T)
  • Experience in equipment maintenance
  • Experience in project management
  • Proficient in Root Cause Analysis or similar troubleshooting technique
  • Experience in Data analytics
  • Knowledge of configuration management systems and documentation practices
  • Knowledge of reliability practices such as condition-based maintenance, vibration analysis, thermography, machine alignment
  • Knowledge of industrial PLC and HMIs in automatic equipment, such as programming and ladder logic

Responsibilities

  • Investigates, creates and reviews equipment and tooling concepts, designs and datasets, and organizes, manages and maintains drawings of record and applies configuration management tools.
  • Participates in product design reviews and researches the application of robotics, automation and new technology to support the build plan and establish technical requirements for producibility.
  • Develops statements of work with validated specifications, requirements, and functions and prepares design or fabrication off load packages.
  • Develops, documents and maintains equipment and tooling inspection, maintenance and spares requirements and trains personnel as needed.
  • Researches designs to create and revise usage instructions. Provides technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems and analyzing data to identify solutions.
  • Conducts studies to determine current condition and make recommendation for disposition of the equipment and tooling.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is hiring for a Reliability Technician to join the 787 Production Engineering team located in North Charleston, SC.

Reliability Engineering ensures that manufacturing teammates have optimal access and knowledge of how to operate safe and functionally reliable assets. This position within Production Engineering provides a huge, direct impact towards delivery of 787 Dreamliners by taking the initiative through hands‑on immersion into the production areas, proactively analyzing production asset downtime data trends, executing asset upgrade projects, and applying reliability engineering practices to ensure that new designs are validated and built reliably into production from the start. Building trust through collaboration with manufacturing and maintenance teammates is crucial for engineers to be successful in this role. Persistent troubleshooting and root cause determination is critical to minimize disruption to the production system during unplanned, emergent production asset downtime events. The Reliability Engineering organization collectively needs a diverse technical skillset and is comprised of mechanical, structural, electrical and controls team members. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  • Summary pay range for Associate (Level 2): $56,950 – $77,050

  • Summary pay range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $68,850 – $93,150

  • Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $81,600– $110,400
