Job summary

The Consortium of Jewish Day Schools is seeking a dedicated First Grade Classroom Assistant to support the lead teacher and help create a positive learning environment for young students. The role focuses on assisting with daily activities, supervising students, and reinforcing academic skills in a caring setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and lessons.
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills.
• Help students stay focused, engaged, and on task throughout the school day.
• Support classroom management and promote positive student behavior.
• Prepare, organize, and distribute classroom materials and supplies.
• Assist with classroom setup, displays, bulletin boards, and organization.
• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other activities as assigned.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with teachers, staff, and students when appropriate.
• Support school programs, special events, field trips, and classroom celebrations.
• Reinforce school policies, procedures, and values.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration.
