Job summary

San Francisco Waldorf School seeks a First Grade Class Aide to support the lead teacher and grade-level specialists within our Waldorf program. The role centers on a warm, rhythmical learning environment and gentle, respectful interactions with students.

This part-time, non-exempt position offers up to 6 hours per day, five days a week, with additional hours by arrangement. Meetings with the lead teacher and light admin tasks are included; compensation includes meeting stipends and a $29.00 per

Duties

• Meet once a week with the lead teacher for planning and review of work.

Administrative and organizational support

• Maintain tidiness and order in the classroom, including end of day tasks after school.
• Prepare, track, and restore classroom supplies and equipment.
• Prepare and organize seasonal displays as directed by the lead teacher.

Collaboration and professional conduct

• Defer to the lead teacher’s authority. This is essential for a collaborative and effective classroom environment.
• Communicate observations and feedback about students progress and behavior to the lead teacher.
• Direct inquiries from parents, about classroom/student life, to lead teachers.
• Use discretion and confidentiality in communication.

Schedule

Up to 6 hours per day, 5 days per week. Exact schedule will be arranged with the Class Teacher. Additional hours to be arranged in advance if needed. If possible, the Aide should attend the Grade School Faculty meeting on Thursdays from 2:15 to 3:30 which is compensated at a separate rate ($40 per meeting).

Compensation

$29.00 per hour

This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position. Benefits include San Francisco Sick Paid Sick Leave and San Francisco Health Care Ordinance. This position does not continue through the Summer Break.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

• Be able to occasionally lift to 30 lbs.
• Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and cold
• Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours

About San Francisco Waldorf School

San Francisco Waldorf School (SFWS) is an independent, co-educational, non-sectarian school providing education from Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Colleges and Schools (WASC) and by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA). SFWS was established in 1979 with the purpose of bringing the 100-year old international Waldorf school movement to San Francisco.
