Job summary

Mission Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a First Assistant PRN to support surgical teams in wound exposure, hemostasis, suturing and related tasks. The role involves scrubbing and patient care across the perioperative period, with qualifications including NSAA-approved program and CFA/CSA certification.

Qualified candidates will hold a surgical technology degree (AS or similar) and current BLS; one year of CFA/CSA practice is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved surgical technology program.
• Associate of Science degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Science.
• Graduate of a National Surgical Assistant Association approved Surgical Assistant Program.
• One year practicing as a CFA or CSA.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care by assisting the surgeon in wound exposure, hemostasis, suturing and other technical functions during surgical procedures.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Role Summary: Supports department by providing direct patient care by assisting the surgeon in wound exposure, hemostasis, suturing and other technical functions during surgical procedures to achieve desired surgical outcomes. Aids perioperative team by scrubbing and caring for the patient before, during and after surgical intervention.
What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: Candidate must have one of the following degrees: Graduate of an approved surgical technology program. Associate of Science degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Science. Graduate of a National Surgical Assistant Association approved Surgical Assistant Program

Required License: Surgical Technician - current certification as a Certified First Assistant, current BLS certification *Surgical Assistant - current certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant, current BLS certification *If training other than surgical technology, please refer to criteria as stated on the CSA professional organization website www.nsaa.net
Required Experience: One year practicing as a CFA or CSA
