Position Description

The Department of Athletics at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Coaching Assistant (12-month) for Men’s Basketball with an anticipated start date of September 21, 2026.

The Assistant Coach is expected to serve as a mentor and positive role model and to demonstrate sensitivity to equity, inclusion, and diversity in working with a diverse student-athlete population.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Coach assists with the daily operations of the Men’s Basketball program in accordance with NCAA, CCAA Conference, and California State University, Dominguez Hills rules, regulations, and policies. Responsibilities include assisting with coaching instruction, player development, recruiting, practice and game preparation, and supporting the academic success and overall well-being of student-athletes.

• Applicants must have experience in working with students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
• A minimum of 1 to 3 years of successful NCAA Division I, II, or III basketball coaching experience.

Preferred /Desired Qualifications

• Coaching experience at Division II level

Toro Athletics administers an intercollegiate athletic program sponsoring four (4) men’s teams and six (6) women’s teams. A member of NCAA Division II, CSUDH competes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Other functions of the unit include public relations, sports information, athletic training, fund-raising, scheduling of campus athletics facilities, and recruitment and retention of student-athletes. The Athletics Department and University place a high priority on academic stands and the personal growth of student-athletes.

The full-time Coach (12-Month) classification salary range is $6,288 to $7,658 per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring salary range for this position is $6,288 to $6,500 per month. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and current CSUDH faculty salaries in the academic department/discipline. Faculty salaries are subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases.
