Job summary

AdventHealth in Overland Park, KS, is seeking a skilled Perioperative Registered Nurse to support operating room services across multiple specialties. You will assist with pre- and postoperative assessment, maintain sterile technique, and collaborate with surgeons and staff to ensure patient safety and quality care.

Required are an Associate Degree in Nursing, RN license, BLS, and English proficiency; CNOR/CRNFA preferred.

Qualifications

RN license required
Associate's degree in Nursing required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
Proficiency in English (spoken and written) required
Experience in perioperative nursing and operating room procedures preferred
Ability to communicate effectively with surgeons and team

Responsibilities

Assists with pre- and postoperative assessment of patients and updates cards as needed
Performs specialized perioperative nursing care and prepares operating room setup
Maintains sterile technique and promotes patient safety and privacy in the OR

Job Description

Assures appropriate traffic control in the operating room.Initiates the incident reporting mechanisms when indicated. Other duties as assigned. Utilizes appropriate channels of communication when initiating change, reporting information or concerns. Promotes and contributes positively to intra and interdepartmental relations. Assists with the orientation of new employees and assumes unit responsibility when delegated by the nursing manager or director. Performs specialized nursing care in all phases of the peri-operative role. Assists with pre-and postoperative assessment of the patient and updates preference cards as needed. Performs surgical counts per policy and prepares operating room setup. Recognizes abnormal diagnostic laboratory data, blood gas values, radiologic data, and knows the implied significance of each. Recognizes emergency situations and reacts efficiently and appropriately.Assures patients' right to privacy, safety, and confidentiality at all times.

Strong physician/surgeon relationship skills and team mentality [Required]
Up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory, compliance, and accreditation standards and requirements [Required]
Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
