Job summary

Actalent in Carlsbad, CA seeks a Firmware Test Engineer to execute manual firmware testing across embedded systems and IoT devices. You will develop test plans, test cases, and documentation, and perform HIL and SIL testing to validate behaviors and support UAT and release validation.

You will troubleshoot with lab tools, document defects, and work with hardware, software, and product teams to improve testing processes in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on testing of embedded firmware on physical hardware.
• Experience with functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
• Experience debugging firmware using serial consoles, JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Execute manual firmware testing including functional, regression, integration, and stress testing.
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test documentation based on firmware requirements.
• Perform HIL and SIL testing.
• Identify, document, and track firmware defects; collaborate with developers to ensure resolution.
• Validate firmware behavior across embedded systems and connected IoT devices.
• Support cross-platform and compatibility testing.
• Assist with UAT and final release validation.
• Use lab and debug tools to troubleshoot firmware and communication issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and best practices.
