Job summary

Lumitec is seeking an Associate Firmware Software Engineer to join our engineering team in Delray Beach, FL. This role focuses on embedded firmware development and close collaboration with hardware teams to deliver high-value products.

You will contribute to embedded product development, assist with hardware/software integration, troubleshoot issues, and support software applications that interact with our devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 2–5 years of firmware/software experience.
• Experience programming in C and/or C++, and with microcontrollers or embedded systems.
• Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills; familiarity with networking protocols.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug software and hardware interactions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded firmware using C and C++.
• Program and troubleshoot microcontroller-based systems.
• Assist with integrating firmware, electronics, sensors, and peripheral devices.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues through testing and debugging.
• Work with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Bluetooth, and TCP/IP protocols.
• Participate in product testing, validation, and performance improvements.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code.
• Use Git for source control and collaborative development.
• Support software applications and user interfaces that interact with embedded devices.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and software engineers throughout development.

About the Role

Lumitec is seeking an Associate Firmware Software Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer with a solid foundation in embedded firmware development and experience working with both software and hardware systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of embedded products, assist with hardware/software integration, troubleshoot technical issues, and support software applications that interact with our products.

This position offers an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across firmware, hardware integration, and application development while working alongside experienced engineers.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain embedded firmware using C and C++
• Program and troubleshoot microcontroller-based systems

Preferred Additional Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is helpful but not required:

• React or other modern web frameworks
• REST APIs
• Database connectivity and data management
• Automated software testing

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
• 2-5 years of professional software or firmware development experience
• Experience programming in C and/or C++
• Experience working with microcontrollers or embedded systems
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging software and hardware interactions
• Basic understanding of networking and communication protocols
• Familiarity with software development tools such as Git
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, hands‑on engineering environment

Nice to Have

• Experience with STM32, ESP32, NXP, Microchip, or similar microcontroller platforms
• Familiarity with electronics, schematics, and test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
• Experience developing web or mobile applications that communicate with connected devices
• Marine, automotive, industrial controls, or IoT product experience
