Job summary

ASSA ABLOY in New Haven, CT is seeking a Firmware QA Engineer II to join the Access Egress Hardware Team. You will drive quality across the development lifecycle and support CI/CD practices for firmware and embedded systems.

You will collaborate with firmware engineers, DevOps, and product managers to test APIs, hardware-software integration, and to ensure reliable, scalable products. Experience with Python, CI/CD, and embedded protocols is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years of QA, automation, firmware, embedded systems, or related experience.
• Strong Python and test automation framework experience.
• Experience with API testing, Git, Agile methodologies, Linux, and scripting.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of embedded protocols including BLE, UART, SPI, I2C, MQTT, or RS-485.
• Experience using Jira, Xray, Zephyr, or TestRail.

Responsibilities

• Drive quality strategy, quality gates, and release criteria across the development lifecycle.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and CI/CD validation pipelines.
• Perform firmware, embedded systems, hardware-software integration, API, regression, and release testing.
• Execute reliability, stress, performance, and endurance testing for connected products.
• Manage defects, conduct root cause analysis, and validate fixes.
• Develop quality metrics, dashboards, and test reports.
• Collaborate with Firmware Engineers, DevOps Specialists, Architects, and Product Managers.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and release readiness reviews.
