Job summary

Körber Supply Chain LLC in Irving, TX, is seeking a Firmware Engineering Lead to drive end-to-end firmware development for machine control systems. You will lead firmware teams, estimate labor and materials for projects, and verify firmware in live mail-processing environments.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in firmware with C/C++, Altera NIOS II tooling, and experience collaborating with EE hardware engineers. Hybrid work in Irving with up to 25% travel is offered.

  • 5+ years firmware development experience creating algorithms and solving control system issues.

  • Experience bidding time and materials for firmware projects.
  • Experience with EE hardware engineers to develop control applications.
  • Proficient in C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Experience with Altera NIOS II software build tools for Eclipse.
  • Experience with MicroChip dsPIC processors and MPLAB X IDE build tools.
  • Familiarity with source control systems such as DevOps, GitHub, etc.
  • Willing to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop control algorithms for machine control in collaboration with electrical and mechanical engineers.
  • Lead firmware engineers through all project stages.
  • Assist bid/proposal teams with labor hours and material cost estimates.
  • Verify firmware in live mail-processing environments with test engineers.

The Firmware Engineering Lead will be responsible for the end‑to‑end development of machine control firmware solutions, collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers to design and implement control algorithms. This role will lead teams of firmware engineers through all project phases, support bid and proposal efforts through labor and material cost estimation, and work with test engineers to verify firmware in live mail‑processing environments. As part of a high‑performing, multi‑site team, the role will apply expertise in embedded firmware development to deliver reliable control applications, effectively communicate technical issues to stakeholders, and support program execution across multiple applications.

Your profile
  • You have experience leading a team of firmware engineers through a project
  • You have experience bidding time and materials for firmware projects
  • You have experience working with EE hardware engineers to develop and implement control applications
  • You have experience with C/C++
  • You have experience with Altera NIOS II software build tools for Eclipse
  • You have experience with MicroChip dsPIC processors and MPLAB X IDE build tools
  • You have familiarity with source control software packages such as DevOps, GitHub, etc.
  • You are willing to travel (up to 25%)
Education And Experience Qualifications
  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of firmware development experience creating algorithms, troubleshooting issues, and finding solutions for control systems
